Phrase of the Day

Yesterday I was leaning down to pick something up and bumped my elbow on the desk. I loudly proclaimed "OW." Tyler heard my plight and came walking over, looked me in the eyes, and said...

"Awwww...you got owies, sweetheart?"

Needless to say, I laughed until I cried, and until he was completely confused as to whether I was hurt or not. What a cute guy. And he's ALL mine!!

An Edit Free Memorial Day Weekend Day 2

Day TWO:

On the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend we hit the outlets in Gettysburg. We scored a whole bunch of good deals, but our best was the Adidas tent sale. We got Tyler a $75 track suit for $15, I got two pairs of capris for $20 (normally $50 a piece), and Josh got some workout shorts and a shirt for $17.

After the outlets we snagged some lunch at Cracker Barrel in Frederick. They have the BEST reuben sandwich! MMMM.

Then we hit the pool. Opening DAY yay! Perfect weather, and no sunburns.

An Edit Free Memorial Day Weekend Day 1

Memorial Day Weekend is one of the holiday weekends I greatly look forward to. This year was no exception - we spent the four days (Josh took off work on Friday) doing all kinds of fun stuff. Since we packed in so much stuff, I am splitting my blog into three (Sunday was pretty uneventful) and not editing any pictures - I don't have time!

Day ONE:

We went down to Chantilly, VA and decided to visit the National Air and Space Museum there. It has been built for years and Josh and I saw the Concorde on display there before the museum was even built, but we didn't make it down until just this past weekend.

Here is the front of the museum with the 17 floor observation tower (you can only get off on three of the seventeen).

Tyler liked the "balls" on the sidewalk, although they were too heavy for lifting.

We saw tons and tons of airplanes, but Tyler seemed more fascinated with the engines than the planes.

We also saw a GIANT space shuttle!

Here is the Concorde NOT on the Dulles Airport tarmac.

Tyler and I even got to "fly" a little Cessna plane. He loved seeing the rudders move and pulling on the steering wheel.

After the museum, we headed off to Todai, which is a MUST if you LOVE sushi. It is an all you can eat sushi buffet in Virginia.

After lunch we drove to Union Station in Washington DC and hopped a duck tour. Those are city tours that take you on land AND in the water. SO fun, but slightly costly. Good thing Tyler was free!

An Edit Free Memorial Day Weekend Day 3/4

Day THREE:

The third day of Memorial Day weekend was a Sunday, so we didn't venture out except to church. However, that evening we decided to go on a campout....in the Living Room! And you can't have a campout without SMORES!

Tyler decided to test out the chocolate before we even lit the "fire." The verdict was "mmm...nummy!"

Two or three birthdays ago (not sure how long ago) Josh got a s'mores maker. It's pretty cool, and makes for easier s'mores indoors.

Tyler didn't really eat anything but marshmallows and chocolate, but his hands still ended up like this:

After s'mores, we ate popcorn and watched a movie from the tent. We saw Paul Blart Mall Cop and it was HILARIOUS! Tyler didn't pay much attention to it, but Josh and I were rolling on the floor laughing.

Day FOUR:

The next day we headed to Baltimore to the Port Discovery Children's Museum. Just inside the doors was a big soccer field...it was (of course) the first thing we HAD to do, and it was terribly hard to tear him away to explore the rest of the museum.

We went shopping...

Climbed a four story jungle gym...

Caught a few waves...

Roped some cattle...

Rode a bucking bronco...

Climbed into some unknown holes...

Took a potty break...

Built with giant generic lincoln logs...

And played in a ball pit...

After the Children's Museum, we stopped for some YUMMY lunch at the ESPN Zone.

And then ventured upstairs to play some fun sports games, like hockey...

Basketball...

and racing...

We planned on hitting the Aquarium, but SOMEONE (not me unfortunately) fell asleep, and the rain clouds were looking ominous. So, back to the aquarium and Phillips Seafood Buffet (YUM) another day!

After an hour long car nap, we stopped by the temple to walk the grounds before the rain started coming down. We didn't get to stay for very long, but got some good pics and Tyler loved seeing "Ro-Ni" on the top of the temple.

Our last stop was Ritas Italian Ice for Misto Shakes and a free baby cone (or cup, rather, since they were out of baby cones).
