Sssssssssssuper!

For S week, Josh got sick....then I got sick....and now Tyler is sick. But it didn't stop us from having loads of fun.

We SCORED tickets to a Caps hockey game against the Candiens. We brought SOUP for the canner food drive, and Tyler ended up with a SWEET Niklas Backstrom poster.
He also STOOD by the glass during warm-ups and SOON after the START, Yurislav SPACEK put a puck up over the glass for him. Now he has two practice pucks.
Before the game we had SANDWICHES and then Tyler had a SALTED pretzel for a SNACK.
We also played the SKITTLES game. Tyler SNUCK some in his mouth in between his SORTING.
We watched SHREK 1, SHREK 2, and SHREK 3.
We made SANDWICHES with SPICY cheese.
We made SNAKES out of construction paper.
Tyler and Daddy made me a SPECIAL SURPRISE while I was at work - Buckeyes!!
We had STRAWBERRY lemonade...
SWEDISH meatballs, and SPAGHETTI SQUASH.
We made an S collage with pictures of things like SOCKS, SHEETS, SKATING, SOFA, etc.
We also read S books and planned to make Spaghetti and Sloppy Joes, but never got around to it. Maybe next time!!

R u Ok?

A Pirate, A Pirate, A Pirate says RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
R week was mostly good intentions and little follow through due to some last minute plans and some late nights. We talked a lot about things that started with R: rabbits, and robins, and rescue vehicles, and reading. We also learned what the letter R looks like and the sign language letter R, and read lots of R books, but didn't get pictures of many things.
We did, however, have Roast Beef sandwiches and Raspberries...
Made Rice Krispy treats...
Made Ravioli...
Watched the Rookie...
And ROCKED THE RED at the caps game...TWICE.
Tyler and I stayed down by the glass to watch warm ups. He liked the Islanders, especially Owie Guy (some guy who was warming up without a helmet and had bruises and cuts above his eye), and the guy with the girl hair. But he especially liked Biron, the Islanders goalie, who threw him a puck over the glass after warmups were over. When he went to bed after the game, he slept with the puck in his hand all night.
Before the second game we went to Ruby Tuesday. It was purely coincidental that we ended up there, since we were planning to go to Chipotle but it was totally crowded....
We watched warm ups again before the game and plenty of pucks came over, but none that we could catch. There were a lot more people waiting by the boards to get a piece of the action. However, Clutterbuck (that really is his last name) from the Minnesota Wild showed off his fancy skating skills and gave Tyler a big wink.
R week was fun, even if it wasn't exactly as planned.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

After stepping out of the shower this morning, towel wrapped tightly around me, Tyler looked at me and said:

Tyler: "Mommy, what color are penguins?"
Mommy: "Black and white, with orange feet and beaks."
Tyler: "Ok....but what color are penguins eyes?"
Mommy: "Uhh...maybe black?"
Tyler: "No, I think blue. Blue is good."

And later, while making rice krispy treats...

Tyler: "I'm sorry, Mommy."
Mommy: "Sorry for what, Tyler?"
Tyler: "I'm sorry I work so much and work on the puter so much. My work is very very hard."

I love my boy SO much.

Mind Your P's & Q's

The Letter P is fun to be
And that's a fact, for so you see
So many things start with P
So let's explore them, you and me...
------------------------------------------------------------------
Pistachios start with P
Pretzels, Peaches, yessiree
Pumpkin cookies for Halloween
Icing them is such a dream!
Pomegranate pop
Pizza, Pineapples
Paper bag puppets give you a smile.
Pumpkin Pie is Heavenly
Especially with cold whipped cream!
Pickles can definitely hit the spot,
But so can Pringles, give the lid a pop!
Pumpernickle pepperjack cheese sandwiches delight
But paper plate apples, I'm not sure that's right?
Potatoes with cheese, bacon bits, and the works
But Peanut Butter sandwiches make Tyler bezerk.
Fruit salad made of pineapple, pears, pomegranate, and plums
Pepperoni, pastrami, and prosciutto Paninis - give me some!
And, of course, painting pumpkins - who could pass up that mess?
All I can say is I think P Week was a fabulous success!
-------------------------------------

Q week, however, wasn't as grand.
Q week was very very poorly planned.
We had quesadillas
Made out of cheese and tortillas
Quiche
And Quaker oats
Then colored pictures of Q - not to boast.

Anyway, I hope my rhyming made you laugh
I read Dr. Suess today before Tyler's nap...
