Long Overdue

On March 15, 2010 we had a Family Home Evening Lesson about Tithing. This stemmed from a chore chart that I made back in early January to give Tyler some simple things to help with around the house. His chores include making his bed, setting the table, and helping Mommy & Daddy (although I am seriously considering adding clean up toys to the list). Whenever he finishes a week's worth of chores, he gets a quarter.

So...by March 15th he was finally to ten quarters, which was when we decided he should pay tithing of one quarter every ten weeks.

This was Tyler's first time paying tithing and so we had a lesson on how much 10% is and made a big deal of filling out his tithing slip and envelope.

Then, the following Sunday we took his tithing to church where he proudly gave it to the Bishop. I can't believe how grown up my little man is getting!!

T-Ball & Three Year Olds

My big boy started T-Ball just recently and had his first game this past Saturday. Unfortunately I had to work, but I snapped some shots pre-game, and had Grandma and Grandpa L. take some for me during the game, since Daddy was busy assistant coaching.

Three year old t-ball is not like regular t-ball. Sure, you have all the same stuff, like the uniform, the field, the players, and the coaches.

But...

You also have some extra stuff.

Like a hat brim that shades your entire body instead of just your face...

A uniform that is three sizes too big, and a batting helmet that makes you top heavy...

Coaches and parents in the outfield during the game...

Daddy by your side to help you remember what to do...

And your game played on a partial field with only half your players, while the other half play on the other part of the field.

But, if you look closely, you can see a ball in the air, thrown by #5...my cutie pie, who ALMOST got another player out. He also got some runs and had a blast.

I am SO proud and can't wait to see his next game on Friday!!

DC Cherry Blossoms

Well...it took me 24 years to make it downtown to see the DC Cherry Blossoms, but I finally did it! Josh took off Friday from work and we bravely made our way downtown. The traffic was HORRIBLE so we headed over to Union Station to park, where we hopped a double decker tour bus, which Tyler has been wanting to do forever anyway.

One of the stops on the tour bus was the Jefferson Memorial, which put us on the bottom part of the Tidal Basin which is where a lot of the Cherry Blossoms are, so we figured - that works awesome. They told us that we would probably wait an hour for a bus, but we thought that was better than waiting in traffic to find a parking spot close by.

However, we got lucky and hopped right on a bus - how convenient, right?

Wrong. We got as far as the Washington Monument when the bus driver stated "this is the stop for the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials." What?? The Jefferson is like a million miles from the Washington Monument...we must be hearing wrong.

Not. Because of the traffic the tour buses were not running their loop around the tidal basin. How nice to tell us BEFORE we purchased tickets, since that was our destination to begin with...

So, we walked from the Washington Monument, down one side of the tidal basin to get some good shots of the Jefferson Memorial and the beautiful cherry blossoms.

Then, we walked to the FDR Memorial, and to the Lincoln Memorial, since Tyler has been dying to see "the big guy that gets up and walks with all the bird poop" from Night at the Museum 2.

After that, we walked to the Korean War Memorial, and then to the WW2 Memorial.

Then back past the White House and to the bus stop at the White House Visitor Center (after a quick stop at the Roosevelt Building for a potty break and a smoothie).

We took the bus back to Union Station past the Capitol again and then drove home, where Tyler promptly fell asleep in the car, while Josh and I tried not to.

Despite all the walking, it was a great day, and I definitely had a fun time seeing the blossoms and enjoying the time with my family.

Will we do it again next year? Probably not...

I have not been on here in a long time, due to not having extra computer time, but I just wanted to share a couple of things that have made me laugh hysterically...kudos to my 3 year old.

Tyler: Dad
Me: No, what is his REAL name?

Me: Tyler, no, what do other people call him?
Tyler: Ummm...Stud??

Tyler: Nothing
Me: No, Tyler what WAS that?
Tyler: Oh, it's not your problem...it's my problem.

I also joy in the fact that he calls bobble heads "goggle heads" and bubble hockey "bubble gum hockey."

Professional Pics at an Affordable Price

Without the ever-talented Melissa around or my super-cool Annie to take pictures of my little boy, I had to settle for my next choice: JC Penney. Although I have been semi-satisfied in the past, I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome of my visit this time. It might have been how excited and cooperative that Tyler was that helped the pictures to turn out so cute, or the fact that we actually got a photographer that knew how to work the camera and work WITH the subject of the pictures, but I almost felt bad paying so little for what I purchased. Anyhow, here were the results:
