Last weekend we attended the CTS "Hawaiian Luau," which, besides the scanty decorations, was far from a luau. Where were the hula dancers? Where was the roast pig? Where were the pineapples? OK so I have never been to a luau, but I expected much different.
Anyhow, there WERE decorations...and people...and a DJ...and dancing...and swimming, of course.
We ate pulled pork sandwiches and potato salad, potato chips, and hot dogs.
Then...there was ICE CREAM! And popsicles. Shaped like Sponge Bob.
And giant rocket popsicles too! Tyler stole mine.
After tons of colored ice cream dripping down his face, hands, chest, and anywhere else it could go, Josh found a creative way of cleaning Tyler off. We tried the drinking fountain to no avail, so SORRY lifeguards!!
But then he had MORE ice cream...
Which meant MORE cleaning!!
There was also a conga line. Tyler and I didn't do much conga-ing - we just followed the line so that he could win a free maracca.
They had a swimsuit contest. There's my boy strutting his stuff. And yes, he IS scratching his butt in case you enlarged the picture to see if he REALLY was. That's my boy! (Covers face). Needless to say, he didn't win the contest.
They also had a hula hooping contest. He could barely reach both sides of the hoopaloop (thank you Oso - that is now what Tyler calls them), so he didn't win that contest either.
Doesn't he look upset? Poor kid! Didn't win ANY contests. (Ok, so he was actually upset cause I made him hold still for a picture, but whatever....just feel sorry for him.)
All in all we had a good time, and at least one of us went home with blue lips...
